Matt and Dave is a comedy series that focuses on the lives of two teenage boys, Matt Brillar and Dave Jackson, in high school who are just trying to make it to adulthood alive. It is done in the style of an "animated audio journal". meaning that it uses a still image with audio that depicts the character's feelings.

The show's simple style allows for easy production for AnimationCity, as it includes a still image (the logo) that sits the entire time as the narrator (typically Dave Jackson or Matt Brillar) discusses what is usually a problem in their life or insulting one of their friends, with the occassional description of themselves or something they did recently. The show is done in an audio journal style way, meaning that the characters talk in a first-person perspective, unlike a typical sitcom with dialogue.
It is rumored that the show may eventually be turned into a 2D animated show similar to Ol' Bum-Bum. However, it is currently unconfirmed due to the priority of getting other animated projects done first.
Reception[edit | edit source]
During Season One, the show received a relatively high reception, hitting almost 40 views per episode within the first few weeks after its debut on June 14th, 2011. However, Season Two's following has decreased quite significantly.
Despite the lowered amount of viewers and lack of airetime on certain days, AnimationCity has announced that "the series will continue as long as the actors are up to it and the material remains humorous", which is very possible that it will remain in production for a while, since almost all the episodes in the season are recorded in one day of production.
A fifth season has been confirmed, and recording has already begun on its episodes.
